Proceeds to benefit Enmore Christmas Party

Hot from the Pot…
On December 6, 2020, golfers unite for charity as the Guyana Golf Association and Nexgen Golf Academy host their annual event for the Enmore Orphanage with a CURRY-Q that features a break from the traditional meal offered by fundraisers.
The CURRY-Q will have four types of curry: mutton, chicken, duck and vegetable, prepared by some of the best cooks, and served hot from the pot with rice, dhal-puri, dhal, salad, a Banks beverage, and lots of optional pepper sauce.
As a bonus, Coaches Avinash Persaud and Dr. Joaan Deo will be on hand to give supporters a chance to play or learn the game at the Academy for half an hour, with a chance to win prizes, at no additional cost!

The venue for the new facility

Since 2001, the Enmore Orphanage has been home to more than 100 kids ranging in age from 3 to 20 years old, and has been working to provide them with a stable environment.
Director of the organization, Kenneth Finlayson, said that for many years the Orphanage has been working towards building a new facility, but work has been stalled due to lack of funding.
“As always, we are grateful to Mr Hussain and his golfing supporters for their efforts and support over the years to make this time of the year special for our children,” he said.

The Orphanage hopes that other organisations and sporting entities will follow the lead of the Guyana Golf Association and help them accomplish the dream of completing the building of a better home and providing a better life for their kids.
Many major companies, such as Grand Coastal Hotel, Hits & Jams 98.1 Real FM, Toolsie Persaud, Assuria General Insurance, New Trend Auto, AR Printery, Banks DIH, Crown Mining, the Shafura Hussain Foundation, and Panko Steel have already thrown their support behind the activity, which combines a worthy cause with a day of fun for families in a socially distanced environment.
Kerwin Bollers of the HJ Entertainment said he and his company have always been ready to partner with Hussain. “Aleem and I have done many events together, from boxing to golf and, most recently, the fabulous Soca & Wine Festival, which was the largest non-sport activity in recent history.”
Many of the top golfers from the Lusignan Golf Club, including President Pur Persaud, Munaf Arjune, Romel Bhagwandin, Robin Tiwari, Carlos Adams, Chet Bowling, and Ramesh Dookhoo, are among the many players who will be on hand to demonstrate their skills and try to win prizes.
President of the GGA, Aleem Hussain, said: “There is no better feeling than giving to those who are unable to experience what most people accept as normal, and that is why I’m happy to see both golfers and non-golfers coming together on December 6th to help raise funds to give these kids a wonderful Christmas party.”
General Manager of Assuria General, Yogendra Arjune, explained that his company sees this as a great opportunity to give back to the less fortunate, and he is happy to be a part of the activities. “I am a new golfer and our company supports many charitable efforts, so placing our support behind this was a no-brainer for me.”
Tickets for the event are available at the Golf Academy, Scouts Association of Guyana ground, Assuria General offices located at Giftland, Church Street, Diamond, and Vreed-en-Hoop; or by calling 645-0944 to reserve.
