Prominent Linden businessman and Linden Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Development (LCICD) Executive Member Stephen “Steve” Bovell has died following health-related complications.
Bovell was the proprietor of Demerara Bakery, situated at Burnham Drive, Wismar, Linden, which he founded more than 20 years ago. Bovell, who was known to have a heart condition, reportedly passed away on Tuesday evening.
The LCICD in a release stated: “The President and members of the Linden Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Development extend heartfelt condolences to the wife, children, and other relatives and friends on the passing of Mr Stephen Bovell. We pray that God strengthen you all in this time of bereavement and may his soul Rest in Peace.”
Scores of persons in Linden, including residents, officials, and members of the business community have also expressed grief and shock over the businessman’s passing.
Former Linden Mayor Carwyn Holland noted, “If there was one person I could have called upon last minute to support any initiative I was undertaking in Linden as Mayor, to give me some history of Linden or things of Linden, to ask about the quality of some infrastructure projects – it was Steve Bovell,” Holland noted.
Bovell is survived by his children and many relatives. He will be laid to rest during the week.
