The 35-year-old Corlette entered a not guilty plea to a charge detailing that on August 2, at Lamaha Street, Georgetown, he deceived Saheed Mohammed into believing he was a glass technician in order to get $3M from him.
During his court appearance, Collette, who was represented by Attorney-at-law Paul Fung-a-Fat, told the magistrate that he had been recruited by Mohammed to finish a task, and that he had used the money he was paid to buy supplies.
He claimed that after about 95 per cent of the work had been completed, Mohammed accused him of using the money for his own benefit, and as a result, he was detained and charged after  a report  was made to the Police.
His counsel, requesting that he be released on reasonable bail, told the court that his client is interested in reaching a settlement.
Bail was granted to Collette in the sum of $100,000, and he was instructed to appear in court on November 22. He had been placed on $200,000 station bail pending investigations. (G1)
