The Private Sector Commission (PSC) on Monday hosted a formal ceremony to commemorate the newly established American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Guyana.
Attending the event were US Ambassador Perry Holloway; Chief Executive Officer (CEO)of GPL, Albert Gordon; and CEO of the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), Dr Richard Van West-Charles while AmCham was represented by its President, Zulfikar Ally and other representatives inclusive of Liz Wyatt and Clairmont Cummings.
The visiting delegation from the US Chamber of Commerce was headed by Vice President for the Americas, Anne McKinney, who was accompanied by George Kalantzakis and Mitchell De Silva.

congratulated AmCham and welcomed the visitors to Guyana while Ambassador Holloway lauded the collaboration between Guyanese and American businesses as he deemed it the “best kind of diplomacy”.
McKinney noted that AmCham will catalyse and strengthen cooperation between Guyanese businesses and American business and facilitate two-way trade. She expressed her enthusiasm for working with the Private Sector Commission and the American Chamber.
The American Chamber of Commerce was officially launched in Guyana on Monday evening at the Marriott Hotel.
The President of the Chamber said it plans to place emphasis on small businesses to ensure that they, too, have opportunities to grow.
“We see this Chamber as a Chamber that will help to facilitate investment into Guyana. There are 116 chambers all around the world and… our job will be to help to facilitate and guide [businesses],” he said.
