Public confidence survey launched for Guyana Police Force

To improve the services provided by the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the Home Affairs Ministry has launched the Public Trust, Confidence and Satisfaction survey which is intended to determine citizens’ satisfaction and confidence with policing services.

According to the Ministry, the survey will also determine if citizens who have interacted with law enforcement officers within the last 12 months were treated fairly and with dignity during their interactions.
“We are encouraging all citizens to partake in this public trust survey to improve the services provided by the Guyana Police Force. All responses will remain confidential…” said Home Affairs Minister Robeson Benn.
Meanwhile, members of the Guyana Police Force will partake in a job satisfaction survey. The survey is to determine the level of performance, job satisfaction, leadership, and communication of the law enforcement body.
“We propose to determine the level of satisfaction of the employees in the workplace and what are the probable measures to be taken based on the responses to the survey. This is important to identify resorts to motivate higher performance as we seek to maintain law and order in Guyana. We support the view that it is crucial to retain an effective and proficient workforce as critical to the institution’s performance,” the GPF said in a statement.

Both surveys opened on Sunday via the Ministry’s and news agencies’ websites and social media platforms. The surveys will close on January 2, 2021.
Last week, the Home Affairs Ministry hosted a “Performance Improvement” meeting with the GPF, Guyana Prison Service, and the Guyana Fire Service.
The meeting was attended by 50 senior officers and officials of the agencies.
The meeting was aimed at identifying current issues affecting the agencies and exploring new initiatives they can use to improve service delivery to the citizenry. These include safety and security, infrastructural development, more collaboration between Government agencies, regional and international training for staff among others.
