Home News Pump attendants arrested for allegedly staging robbery at service station
Two female pump attendants attached to a service station at Meten-Meer-Zorg on the West Coast of Demerara were arrested, and were expected to be charged with robbery that was committed on Wednesday evening.
According to Police, about 19:17h on the day in question, there was a power outage in the area which lasted for about five minutes. During that time, the women claimed that a male rode up on a bicycle and relieved them of cash and other valuables.
They told Police that the men robbed them of $132,796 and took off. Upon the restoration of power, the two attendants reported what had transpired to their neighbours and as such, the robbery was reported to the Police.
Soon after, the proprietor was informed of the alleged incident. The two ladies were taken into custody and an investigation was launched. Based on evidence gathered, it is believed that the women staged the robbery.
