Quarterfinal stage unravels this weekend

GFF-KFC National U-20 Independence Cup…

The quarterfinal matches of the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF’s) KFC- sponsored National U20 “Independence Cup” Playoff 2019 are scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at the GFF’s National Training Centre at Providence, EBD.
Dynamic FC and NA United FC will kick things off at 12:30hrs today (Saturday), followed by Timehri Panthers versus Botofago FC at 15:00hrs; while on Sunday, matches will feature Santos FC versus Strikers FC at 13:00hrs, and Fruta Conquerors versus Buxton United at 15:30hrs.

These quarterfinal matches feature winners of the first leg of the national playoff held last weekend, and involve the respective winners of the intra-association tournament.
According to tournament rules, kicks from the penalty mark will be implemented following a tied score at the end of regulation time and 20 minutes added time. “If, at the end of regulation time, the score is tied…for the National Play-off, an additional twenty (20) minutes will be played; two periods of ten (10) minutes each; and then, if the score remains tied, kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with FIFA Regulations regarding kicks from the penalty mark will be implemented.”
The winner of the tournament will cart off $500,000, while second-placed team wins $300,000, and third-placed pockets $200,000. The tournament’s top four finishers would also each receive a trophy and medals.
The semifinal matches are set for next Saturday, with the third-place playoff and the finale set for July 1.
