In quarter final one, Police Sports Club will host Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) at Police ground, Eve Leary.

The host in recent years has been among the top contenders in GCA’s cricket and as recent as three years ago they won the inaugural Carib Beer T20 first division finals. Since then there has been an improved level of competition from the lawmen which got them to this stage. Their team will include the in form all-rounder Kelvin Leitch and Stephen Harris.

MSC on the other hand, dominated most GCA cricket from 2004 to 2009 but fell off terribly subsequently. It is now the ideal time for them to maximize on their quarterfinal berth and pave way to reach the summit. Kefa Naughton and Floyd Rollins are expected to lead MSC’s batting.

In quarterfinal two, strong contenders and host Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will face off against Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC). The military squad is the more experience of the two and will feature several former national youth players, led by Jeremiah Harris. GNIC which in contrast consists of current junior players Joshua Persaud, Kurt Lovell, Stephon Campbelle and others will be riding high.

In the third quarterfinal, favourites and powerhouse of GCA’s cricket, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) will clash with Everest Cricket Club. DCC has dominated cricket in the city at almost every level in the last seven years and this time around is not expected to be different. Like GNIC, DCC comprises of a barrage of talented national youth players, namely Sachin Singh, Sherfane Rutherford, Raymond Perez, Ashmead Nedd and others. They will start as favourites today although they are the visitors. The Queenstown unit also disposed of Everest earlier this year in the GCA forty over second division competition.

Everest will be no gateway for DCC and with a strong composition which consist of technically sound batsmen and quality spinners, this match is expected to be the best of the quarterfinals. The Carifesta Avenue side’s leading players Khemraj Ramdeen and Javed Rasheed must be eagerly anticipating this match.

Last but not least, quarterfinal four features last year’s finalist Transport Sports Club (TSC) and Muslim Youth Organization (MYO), who has been playing fierce cricket recently. This match is slated for MYO ground in Woolford Avenue.

TSC’s unit includes the like of Kevin Ross, Charwayne Mcpherson and Shawn Massiah while MYO is expected to field former national under-15 player Safraz Esau, Richard Latiff and Shahid Gittens.

All matches are set to get underway at 10:30h.
