Raging knockouts puts GDF, Republican Gym as forerunners for title

On Tuesday night, the first night of the , it was all about knock-outs, and 7 fighters fell victim during their respective three-round bouts.
The highlight of the night was when Ishawn Khan, younger brother of Amir “Magic” Khan, knocked out Jason Mickle in the opening minutes of the third round of their 52kg clash.
On Wednesday evening, as the action continued, Vergenoegen’s Christopher Moore defeated Ryan Albert of the Republican Gym in a trade-off of blows in the 60kg Youth category.

It an intense battle from round one with all fighters

In the Elite 52kg bout, GDF’s Delroy Murphy stopped Orin Rodrigues of the Republican Gym in the third round with three standing eight counts. But Vergenoegen continued their winning streak for the night, as Kelvin Moore defeated GDF’s Clinton Clarke on points in their 56kg bout.
As the night wore on, GDF strung together a couple of victories in the 64kg category when Delon Garraway and Kevin McKenzie defeated their opponents, Quami Cumberbatch and Darnel Jessamy respectively, to progress to the finals, which will be fought tonight.
Over in the 69kg weight class, there was an exciting matchup between GDF’s Tony Gillis and Travis Stewart from the Republican Gym, with Gillis emerging the winner on a points’ decision. His fellow gym partner, Jamal Leitch, then made light work of Mark Chester to win unanimously via points.
Joel Peters pummelled his way to a TKO win over Joseph McKenzie in their 81KG clash, McKenzie submitting in the opening minutes of the third round.
In the heavier weight division, Republican’s Germain Williams defeated army man Damieon Johnson in their 91 kg fight via points. In the same category, Aubrey Headly defeated Brian Tappin to join Williams in the 91 kg finals, set for tonight.
Heavyweights Emerson Farley and Anthonio Williams, both of the GDF, defeated their respective opponents — Oswald Yaw and Ejad Allie — to set up an all army final in the 91+ kg category.
