Rain hampers weekend matches

A mixture of rain and other major sporting events, limited the play in the Guyana Football Federation/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National U -17 League over the weekend.NAMILCO

On the East Coast, the rain and the ground’s unplayable condition prevent a kick-off while in the Georgetown and Linden associations; the matches were postponed due to clashing activities.

The reports received from some association heads, matches will continue as per normal the coming weekend. However, the Linden leg will resume on Wednesday, with Botafago coming up against High Stars followed by Mile Rock battling Silver Shattas.

The last recorded matches in Linden saw, TOPP XX trashing Amelias Ward Panthers 6-0 with Emanuel Atkins scoring a Hatch Rick in the 21st, 35th & 58th minutes while his colleagues Andrea Myers, Carlon Hinds and Kurliegh Hooper each scored a goal in the 15th, 42nd and 50th minutes respectively in the first game.

In the second match, Eagles United defeated Net Rockers 3-2. Scoring for the Eagles were Jamal Allicock who wasted no time as he put his team in the lead scoring in the 3rd Minute of the game,while Omar Brewley marked his name in the 12th minute taking his team to a 2-nil  lead as play continued Rasheed Johnson also of Eagles United scored their 3rd goal in the 30th minute of the game.

In the second half Eagles United tried to stop Net Rockers from scoring but Joel Isaacs and Kemuel Batson beat their defense and each scored a goal in the 56th and 58th Minute respectively keeping their team’s head above the water.
