Albion defeated Blairmont by 93 runs in their New York Business Group Under-19 fifty-overs’ quarter-final encounter played at Albion.
Winning the toss and taking first strike, Albion eventually slipped from a position of 168 for 5 to 178 all out in 43.4 of their allotted 50 overs. Inzam Shazam topped the scoring with 36, while Antanio February made 34, Sarwan Chaitnarine 33, and Rayad Karim 29. Andy Tejraj took 5 for 31 bowling for Blairmont.
Requiring 179 for victory, Blairmont were bundled out for an embarrassing 85 runs scored in 29.5 overs. Marvan Prashad offered resistance with a well-composed 47, while Nigel Deodat made 19 and Seon Glasgow 14. Left-arm spinner Gourav Ramesh grabbed 6-9 from 8.5 overs, while fellow left-arm-spinner Kelvin Umroa, the Guyana Under-19 player, took 3-12 for Albion.
Tucber Park steamrolls Rose Hall Town ‘B’
In another encounter, Tucber Park defeated Rose Hall Town ‘B’ to advance to the semi-final playoffs of this competition. Batting first, Tucber Park scored 228-8 in 45 overs, while a third-strength Rose Hall Town ‘B’ were bowled out for a mere 26 runs scored in 23 overs.
Tucber Park cashed in on the brilliance of Guyana Under-19 player Garfield Benjamin who scored 80, while his National team mate Leon Swamy smashed 54. Bowling for Rose Hall Town ‘B’, Nicholas Lawson took three wickets.
Berbice Under-19 all-rounder Gevon Schultz scored 34, and returned with the ball to grab 4-5 to bundle out Rose Hall Town ‘B’ for a paltry 26. Schultz received bowling support from Swamy, who grabbed 3-6, while Benjamin and the Ramsammy brothers had one wicket each.
The semifinalists of the BCB Under-19 New York Business Group are Albion, Rose Hall Town Pepsi ‘A’, Tucber Park, and Rose Hall, Canje. Albion will host Tucber Park, while Rose Hall Canje will host RHT Pepsi.
