Defending champions Rose Hall Town Bakewell will clash with Rose Hall Canje in the lone remaining semifinal of the Berbice Cricket Board/ Ramnaresh Sarwan Under-17 Tournament.
The defending champions defeated arch-rivals Tucber Park by five wickets in the quarterfinals played at the Area ‘H’ Ground, while Albion defeated Port Mourant by eight wickets to advance to the finals.
the visiting Tucber Park CC won the toss and elected to bat first, after a delay of one hour due to early morning rain. Tucber Park were, however, bowled out for 74 off 36.4 overs. National Under-15 batsman Zeynul Ramsammy (14) and Savishkar Sobhai (14) were the only batsmen to reach double figures against the RHT Bakewell spin attack.
Off-spinners Ricardo Ramdehol and Jonathan Rampersaud claimed 4 for 13 from 9 overs and 3 for 19 from 10 overs respectively for the home team.
In reply, RHT Bakewell reached 80 for 5 from 16.3 overs. Rampersaud completed a fine all-round performance with 25, while Lucas Arthur was unbeaten on 13. Abdul Ramsammy took 3-17 from eight impressive overs for Tucber Park.
Meanwhile, Albion defeated Blairmont and Port Mourant by 18 runs and 8 wickets respectively in the quarterfinals and semifinals, to advance to the finals.
Blairmont restricted Albion to 134 in 46.2 overs, as only Hemendra Gurdyal, Tameshwar Mahadeo and Leon Cecil reached double figures.
For Blairmont, Akash Harilall bagged 3 for 19 and Anthony Sukhra took 2 for 10.
The visiting Albion team, in reply, collapsed for 116 all out in 42 overs, as national player Marvon Prashad (55), Satyah France (19) and Anthony Sukhra (13) made futile efforts.
Pavendra Ganesh with 3 for 12 led the attack, while Surendra Ramcharitar offered quality support at the other end.
In the semifinals, Port Mourant were shot out for 82, with extras contributing 29 runs from 40 overs.
Salim Khan and Andy Downer each scored 17, and Inzam Shazam claimed 4 for 20.
Albion raced to 84 for 2 from 13 overs, with Hemendra Gurdyal (28) and Naresh Veersammy (18) leading the way.
Rose Hall Town Bakewell and Rose Hall Canje will replay their semifinal match, after the first match was washed out.
The BCB hopes to complete the tournament by the end of January, so that the 2020 edition can start in early February.
