Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Upper Corentyne bowlers managed to restrict the New Amsterdam / Canje batsmen to a meager 68 runs. R. Dhanpat top scored with 20, while Justin Meghu supported with 13. All the other batsmen failed to reach double figures, and were all bowled out in 25 overs.
Bowling for Upper Corentyne, Skipper Rampertab Ramnauth was the pick of the bowlers, as he picked up 4 for 9 off his 6 overs. Pacer Dwayne Williams took 3 for 18 in his 6 overs while Matthew Pattaya took 2 for 8 in 5 overs. Christopher DeRoop took 1 for 13 in 5 overs.
In their reply, Upper Corentyne scored 122 in their allotted 30 overs, losing only four wickets. Captain of the Upper Corentyne team, Ramnauth, scored a brilliant 57 not out, which was decorated with five fours. He received valuable support from opener Reyad Rahaman who was bowled by pacer Isia Thorne for 19.
Bowling for New Amsterdam Canje, Isia Thorne took 1 for 26 in 5 overs, Justin Meghu 1 for 17 in 6, V. Cyril 1 for 16 in 3 and G. Kisten 1 for 4 in 2 overs
In the second innings, the New Amsterdam/Canje lads failed to reach the surplus of 54 set by Upper Corentyne, as they only managed to score 51 in their allotted time span.
Again Upper Corentyne’s skipper, Ramnauth, was excellent with the ball as he took 2 for 10.
