Ramps Logistics on Saturday put smiles on over 350 orphans’ faces with a day of fun at their second annual Ramps logistics Christmas Treat at the National Park, Georgetown.

Business Development Director Marisca Jordan told Guyana Times that the company decided to treat the children of the orphanages they work with all year long, along with a few other homes. She related that their company catered for almost 400 children, with a total of 500 persons after including adults and staff.
Meanwhile, the event was filled with many activities which included a list of games and entertainment for the children, pony riding, a locally-made single bowling rink, bouncy castles, rock climbing, ‘decorate your cookie’, among other friendly games.

Jordan said, ‘’we tried to make it fun and interactive, GTT sponsored the arts and craft section so they sent a few of their volunteers to just be here working with the kids”.
Besides, everything available to the kids was free of cost. Also, there was a food station where the children were treated to all they can eat.
“We have cupcakes, all you can eat, by the way, hot dogs, a candy station, snow cones from Jerry’s; Palm Court sponsored Royal Castle chicken for all the kids,” she further added.
Nevertheless, every child present at the event was given a present that was personally labelled and handed to them by Santa.
“We are providing food, drinks, games and of course, security to these children”, the Director said.
She advised that other companies come on board since this initiative should be done all year round.
“This is an initiative we take with pride and it is not something we just want to do around Christmas time, just for the kids at Christmas… especially kids coming from these homes, it is very important to have something sustainable, and show that we really do care about them,” she further added.
Cartoon characters had the children excited throughout the event. Meanwhile, appropriate children’s soundtracks were played as they lined up in numbers to play games, have their face painted and of course, see Santa.
The homes where the children came from were St Ann’s Home, Joshua House, Shaheed’s Orphanage, and Sophia Care Centre.
