Raveiro Tucker: from bartender to super biker

At the age of 19, Raveiro Tucker has had some experiences in life that some twice his age have never encountered. Between his aeronautical studies and working two jobs as a bartender at the Track Restaurant and Bar, he has also set his sights on becoming one of Guyana’s top motor bikers in the not-too-distant future.
How does he manage a ‘24/7’ lifestyle? According to Tucker, by pure commitment.
“I do various stuff, and whatever I do I give it my all. I was offered to race the bike a year ago, but the guy sold it. I eventually got the bike, and I just had to feel what racing is like; so the last meeting was a discovery race, and now is the real deal”, he told Guyana Times Sport.

The ‘real deal’ that Tucker speaks of is Sunday’s National Race of Champions. At this year’s first edition in April, Tucker made his first competitive appearance at the South Dakota Circuit and was given a rude awakening by the intense competition. Now, with the second episode on the horizon, Tucker, having realised his faults, considers himself ready to make a name for himself.
“This race is pretty unpredictable; everyone is close with the times. It’s just down to Sunday. Kevin [Persaud] is my motivation, since I want to beat him. It is really going to be a thrilling day, and fans can expect a lot from me,” he told Guyana Times Sport.
The second generation motor racing enthusiast is following in his uncle Eric Tucker’s footsteps, albeit that Tucker was a group two driver.
“I have been around racing (activities) all my life. My uncle used to race, and my favourite part of the track is the club house turn, since it is a high-speed turn, and when you come around it, you throw your body inches off the ground at a high speed. It is a pretty good feeling,” he disclosed.
With the Yamaha YZF R6 as the machine of his choice, Tucker explained that he has done some tweaking to ensure he can perform at his optimum.
