Rawle Toney 3×3 Classic officially launched!!!

… Kwakwani, Ravens are champions in respective exhibition matchups

The Rawle Toney 3×3 Classic has officially been launched at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Friday December 10, 2021. The tournament is set for play on February 19-20, 2022, and already is emerging as the most anticipated sporting event of 2022, as it is drawing attention from all over the Caribbean and North America.

Ravens won the men’s category

The launching featured some of Guyana’s top artistes entertaining the crowd under strict COVID-19 protocols, among whom were Jared Lewis (CKush) and Patrick Joseph (PAHJO). From there the action only became hotter as the men and women battled in best-of-three exhibition matchups in their respective categories.
In the women’s event Kwakwani defeated Georgetown, while in the men’s event, Ravens trumped Linden in a definite thriller, winning 15-13. Scoring for Ravens were Dominic Vincente with 6 points, Timothy Thompson with 8 points and Jude Corlette with 1 point. Scoring for Linden were Stanton Rose with 7 points, Harold Adams with 5 points, and Shane Webster with 1 point.

In the third-place playoff, Eagles duked it out with the Colts and won 17-11. The fast-paced encounter saw Evans Johnson with 5 points, Quay Lindo with 4 points, Richard Telford with 2 points and Daniel Oneil with 1 point scoring for the Colts. Scoring for the Eagles were Hulman Bovell with 5 points, Jared Sears with 4 points, Travis Belgrave with 4 points and Michael Richard with 4 points.
After the respective finals, it was now on to the three-points’ shootout where a pair of Steph Curry 8 sneakers were on the line. Dominic Vincente and Stanton Rose Jr gave their all, as their points tied at the end of the preliminary stages. The duo headed into a shootout, and it was Vincente who came out on top and walked away with the sneakers, compliments of MVP Sports, and cash, compliments of Jamal Scott and Muse Sports Bar.

Kwakwani were the winners in the ladies’ category

Sixteen teams will be vying for a winner’s purse of $600,000. In 2019, Pitbulls 3.0, behind Ryan Stephney, Jermaine Slatter, Ryan Gullen and Travis Belgrave, edged Team Smooth 22-12 in the finals to walk away with Gy$300,000 and the Rawle Toney 3X3 Basketball Classic Trophy.
