Real Ghetto Youth Redemption” concert for National Park on Saturday evening
Come Saturday evening, the National Park will once again come alive with one of the most anticipated concerts, featuring one of the best Jamaica reggae musicians of all time. The event is promoted by ICulture Entertainment Production and is titled “Real Ghetto Youth Redemption”.
The headline act will be Sizzla Kalonji straight out of Jamaica. Sizzla is one of the most commercially and critically successful contemporary reggae artists and is noted for his high number of releases. As of 2014, he has released over 70 solo albums. Sizzla has faced backlashes over the anti-gay lyrics in some of his recordings, causing the cancellation of many international concert events.
In 2004, he was barred from entering the United Kingdom for several concerts. In addition, in 2008 his visa was cancelled, preventing him from entering Germany after performing half of his tour and he was sent back to the United States.
Sizzla maintains his stance that he is an artist using his creative expression and freedom of speech and will speak out against injustice where he sees it. This was followed by the cancellation of several other concerts across the globe.
However, in August of 2011, the talented artiste was hit by a bus while riding his motorcycle in Jamaica, leading to many false reports of the singer’s death. This did not deter him from resuming his records the in 2012.
Meanwhile, this highly anticipated event will also see hyped Deejay Garwin, Froggy Madd Squad out of Florida, Deejay Big Papa and Gully Ras.
Heavy security is expected at the National Park on the night of the event.
