Region 2 continues to experience continuous power outages

Residents living in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) continue to experience constant power outages. Frustrated residents are, therefore, calling on the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) to extend the courtesy of saying why disruptions to the power supply continue.
Residents in the north and south of the coast are predominantly affected and according to several residents, the power company has not even issued an advisory to alert them of the outages. For the past two weeks, residents related, they have endured power outages day and night – something they were unprepared for.

Residents are calling on the power company to provide information as it relates to the constant power outages as well as an advisory in the future

Many persons living in the extreme south of the coast related that they would get power outages in the night that would sometimes last for three hours. Apart from that, residents have been experiencing low voltage daily.
The fluctuation of electricity on the Essequibo Coast has become a worrying situation for residents as many persons usually have perishable items in their refrigerators.
“What I don’t understand, why isn’t the company issuing advisory to the public: let us be prepared, so we won’t stock up our fridge; when we get power outage we are left to wonder when it will come on,” one resident explained.
Residents are, therefore, calling on the power company to provide information as it relates to the constant power outages as well as an advisory in the future. Residents believe that GPL can act in a more professional manner, especially if it is conducting maintenance works.
