Region 2 educational institutions receive new Boards of Governors

Several educators, stakeholders and community representatives were on Thursday officially sworn in as members of the Boards of Governors for three educational institutions in Region Two during a ceremony hosted at the auditorium of the Essequibo Technical Institute, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
The reconstitution exercise saw new boards being appointed for Anna Regina Secondary School, Abram Zuil Secondary School and the Essequibo Technical Institute.

Bholaram Mohan will serve as Chairman of the Anna Regina Secondary School Board. Other members are Devika Hoomale, Tageanindra Kishore, Rihana Parker, Veronica Jones, Dhanraj Singhy, Lorraine English, Chaitram Harrypersaud, Oneka Walcott, Lokesh Lall, Devin Mohan, Bavita Persaud, Lovern Corbin, Melrose Henry, Darshanand Ramlall, Boudnarine Harrinarine, Terrence Farley and Thakurdeen Durga. Headteacher Lalljeet Ruplall, along with Marcia Jack and Sanita Singh, will serve as ex-officio members.
At Abram Zuil Secondary School, Tiwari Ramkellawan was named Chairman of the Board of Governors. The board also includes Shondel Hercules, Arnold Adams, Terrence Farley, Juliet Coonjah, Radika Narine, Hansoloutie Ramkellawan, Shaleena Jaigobin, Wayne Ralph, Dudley Stephens, Lokesh Lall, Andy Ramnarine, Roxanne Christiani, Manoj Singh, and Muneera Reedon.
Meanwhile, Toolsie Narine was appointed Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Essequibo Technical Institute. Other members are Dennis Bhagwandeen, Bryan Christiani, Gaydayal Ramnauth, Indrawattie Natram, Tagebrittie Singh, Desiree Vanlewin, Chandrashekar Sharma, Yougeeta Oodit, Aloma Lawrie, Zamal Mohamed, Arnold Adams, Dennis Jaikaran, and Chivraj Boodram. Acting Headteacher Shivnarine Jasodra and Acting Deputy Headteacher Muneshwar Jagnernauth will function as ex officio members.
During the ceremony, the Director of the School Boards Secretariat urged members to work together in the interest of students and the wider community while carrying out their responsibilities with commitment and integrity.
She noted that school boards play an essential role in supporting the growth and management of educational institutions and reminded the appointees that their service is voluntary but important to the continued advancement of education in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the Anna Regina Secondary School Board, Chairman Bholaram Mohan thanked officials for the confidence placed in the board members and pledged to work collectively for the continued development of the institution.
