A new Deputy Regional Executive Officer (DREO) has been appointed in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) to assist with the administrative work within the Region.
The current Regional Executive Officer (REO) Rupert Hopkinson, who serves as the clerk for the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), will be proceeding on annual leave and in the meantime, Derrick Persaud will be serving as the REO.
Speaking at the statutory meeting for the month of May on Tuesday, Persaud called for cooperation from Councillors during his time as REO. He informed the RDC that he served in Regions One and Seven previously and has a wealth of knowledge on administration.
Councillors from the RDC have been calling for a change in the way the Clerk of the RDC was addressing issues raised at the meeting. Government Councillor Naitram had spoken out numerous times that meeting after meeting, nothing meaningful was done to follow up development projects. Other Councillors had described Hopkinson’s leadership as “slow”.
