The President and members of the Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) Tourism Association, in collaboration with the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) met on Wednesday with the Regional Chairman Devanand Ramdatt to discuss plans for the Region’s tourism sector.
This is a part of Tourism Awareness Month 2018.
According to the Regional Chairman, to attract tourism to the Region, there must be a clean environment; courteous and reliable transportation; accommodations; stable electricity, water and communication and easy access to places of interest.

the schools, business sector, service providers, and residents so as to get all involved, prepared and ready. A general clean-up campaign is expected to start this weekend in Charity, the northern end of the Coast, where all garbage will be collected and disposed of at the garbage dumpsite in Charity. The clean-up campaign will then move to Supenaam next weekend. The team will also be meeting with the key service providers in the transportation, communication, accommodation and other sectors as well as restaurants, cook shops, vendors, entertainment spots and other key stakeholders. Region Two has the potential for a vibrant tourism sector, and boasts many natural attractions such as rivers, lakes, resorts, wildlife, as well as Amerindian Communities, historic sites, and even a small waterfalls in the Amerindian Community of Tapakuma, if promoted, can be one of the most successful sectors in the Region.
