“The team reported that the airstrip is legal and that it (has) not been used in a while. The residents in the area said that they have seen aircraft circling the area, but we cannot confirm that any landed,” Allicock said.
Allicock had told Guyana Times they have received several reports that, over a period of time, several aircraft have been seen circling and landing at a suspected illegal airstrip in the Parabara Savannah in South Rupununi. He noted that following the reports, a team comprising ranks from the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Defence Force ventured to the area to investigate.
The team is still conducting investigations. As of recent, several illegal aircraft and airstrips have been discovered in Region Nine.
