One day after Regional Executive Officer (REO) of Region Nine, (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) Karl Singh, has been arrested for reportedly shooting a woman to her abdomen, he was placed on bail.

According to the Guyana Police Force, the REO was released on bail after its investigations revealed that Singh accidentally shot the pharmacist of St. Ignatius Village, Central Rupununi, to her abdomen.
He is however expected to return to the station today as investigations continue. Reports are that the 25-year-old woman was shot at about 23:00h on Tuesday in the Commercial Zone of Lethem Central.
Police had said that the woman was with the REO in his motor pickup when he allegedly shot her. Singh took the woman to the Lethem Regional Hospital, where an immediate surgery was performed on her, and her condition is now regarded as stable.
