Home News Region One women clearing land for agroforestry project
Through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives in partnership with the Guyana Marine Conservation Society, the women of the Smiths Creek Community, Region One (Barima-Waini), have commenced clearing of two acres of land with the equipment which were donated recently.
In a social media post on Monday, the Canadian High Commission in Guyana said that the women are divided in two groups named after their favourite birds – the Curry-Curry and Gaulin groups. The High Commission noted that whilst the competition is great, so is the cooperation among the 37 women and young girls who are on their way to starting their wiri wiri pepper agroforestry project.
