The incident brought to mind the gruesome manner in which Mangar was run down some eight years ago.
Mangar’s story sent shockwaves across the country.
On September 10, 2010, the then Demerara Bank employee was waiting for transportation on North Road, Georgetown when she met her death at the hands of heartless bandits who had robbed her of her mobile phone.
In desperation, it was reported, the young lady tried to stop the bandits by standing in front of the getaway car, but she was run down and subsequently dragged several feet. She sustained injuries and was taken to the St Joseph Mercy Hospital

The family of the then 20-year-old woman had erected a memorial stone in the vicinity of the accident scene some time after in remembrance of her.
This case is among a long list of cold cases that remain unsolved by the Guyana Police Force.
