A Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) religious leader is now in Police custody after he allegedly raped a 17-year-old boy.
The incident occurred on September 24, 2021.
Based on the initial investigation, the man used his religious standing to gain the trust of the victim’s family at a function. He then dismissed the other family members before raping the boy.
The matter was reported and he was taken into Police custody as the investigation continues.
