Royston James of Lot 15 A, Front Road, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown was on Monday further remanded to prison by Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman, before whom he reappeared to answer a charge of gun possession.
On his first appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts back in August, James had denied the allegation made against him.
The court had heard then that on August 1, 2018, the 40-year-old man had been found in possession of a .38 revolver without being the holder of a firearm licence at the time.
On this occasion, James’s attorney, Paul Fung-A-Fat, requested that bail be granted to his client in a reasonable sum; but Police Prosecutor Quinn Harris cited the serious nature of the offence in objecting to the defendant being placed on bail.
The prosecution’s submissions were upheld, and James, who allegedly is well known to Police, was remanded to prison.
He is expected to make another court appearance on September 24.
