RHTY&SC Busta Champion of Champions resumes

The 2016 Busta Champion of Champions 20/20 Cricket Tournament organised by the Cricket Development Committee of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, is set to restart tomorrow Sunday February 19, 2017 at the Albion Community Centre Cricket Ground. The tournament which started in late November last year with the playing of one round of matches was put on hold due to the continuous rainy season which started in early December.

heads the Cricket Development Committee stated that with an improvement in the weather over the last week, efforts would be made to play off the tournament by the middle of March, 2017. The Club, he stated is eager to complete all 2016 tournaments, so that it can fully concentrate on the 20 (twenty) tournaments it would be hosting in 2017 at the Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19, Female, Second Division, Schools and First Division levels.

Tucber Park is slated to clash with Police at 09:00h while Blairmont and Albion would meet at 13:00h. Tucber Park should feature the likes of Eugene La Fleur, Nial Smith, Steve Deonarine, Romario Shepherd and Hakeem Hinds while Police would depend heavily on Kevin Sinclair, Andel Doris, Brentnol Woolford, Leon Andrews and Martin Singh.

Blairmont, despite starting as under dogs have proven over time that they have the capacity to create upsets and with players like Kevon Hawahir, Javed Karim, Shabeer Baksh, Seon Glasgow and Waqar Hussain, they cannot be underestimated. Power house Albion would include Jonathan Foo, Devendra Bishoo, Veerasammy Permaul, Anthony Bramble, Gudakesh Motie and Kandasammy Surujnarine.

In the first round Young Warriors defeated West Berbice by 16 runs while Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets defeated Upper Corentyne by 78 runs. Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets would face Young Warriors in the semifinals while the winners of the two matches this weekend would be involved in the second semifinals, which would be played on the same day at the Area “H” Ground in early March. The Winning Championship team would receive $100 000.00 (one hundred thousand dollars) and the Busta Cup while the Runner-up would receive $50 000.00 (fifty thousand dollars).
