Trinidad Cement Ltd has renewed its sponsorship of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, M.S Cricket Academy for the 5th consecutive year at the cost of 0,000.00.
The company on Friday last handed over the sponsorship during a simple ceremony at its Lombard Street Head Office. The 2016 TCL Cricket Academy would bowl off today at the Area ‘H’ Ground while the 11th annual Republic Bank Summer Camp for Grade 6 students would start at the same time.
Long serving Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster expressed profound gratitude to the Management and Staff of TCL for their continued confidence in the RHTYSC, M.S and for investing in the future of the next generation of cricketers.

TCL over the last five years has played a major role in shaping the career of national youth cricketers like Slyus Tyndall, Junior Sinclair, Kevlon Anderson, Askay Homraj, Plaffina Millington, Shenneta Grimmond, Marian Samaroo, Shabika Gajnabi, Brandon Prashad, Deborah Vanderstoop, Diane Prahald among others.
Foster proudly stated that this year the Club produced a combined total of eleven female cricketers for Guyana at the junior levels while Tyndall, Anderson and Kevin Sinclair would represent the country at the Junior level shortly.
TCL Plant Manager Mark Blender stated that TCL was pleased to be once again, associated with the RHTYSC, M.S and expressed confidence that the cricket academy would be successful.
The Academy would be conducted by coaches Winston Smith and Delbert Hicks with assistance from Berbice senior player Eon Hooper while the experienced Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster would serve as the Academy Director.
The Academy is catering for 120 youths between the ages of 8 to 18 years old and they would be taught how to play the game and would be involved in several lectures designed to prepare them to be a sports ambassador.
The Republic Bank Summer Camp would cater for 60 Grade 6 students preparing for entrance into Secondary School when school reopens. The main objectives of the Camp is to assist the students to make successful transition to the secondary level.
The Camp, which is been sponsored by Republic Bank at the cost of $160,000.00, would be conducted by an experienced educator. Students would be taught Maths, English, Social Studies, Integrated Science and Basic Spanish while they would also be involved in lectures using the RHTYSC, M.S youth information booklet.
Among the topics of interest to be covered would be Drug Abuse, Peer Pressure, Personal Hygiene, Importance of Education, Importance of Discipline, Suicide, Choosing friends and How to be a Role Model.
Students would also be involved in learning how to play the game of cricket as part of the Club’s Say Yes to Sports Programme. Outstanding Students of both the Academy and Summer Camp would be honoured by the Club with special gifts.
