RHTY&SC make positive contribution to CAPE student

“To give is the best feeling in the world, especially if it inspires people to better themselves and make a positive difference in the lives of others”. Those were the words of Hilbert Foster, Secretary/CEO of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, M.S, during a presentation ceremony at the Club’s Area ‘H’ Ground to assist New Amsterdam Secondary School CAPE Student Olucho Haynes to successfully complete the requirements for CAPE Physical Education Unit 2 Syllabus.

The eight cricket teams of the Club contributed four trophies and a collection of medals towards the hosting of a volleyball tournament featuring school teams from the Tutorial Academy Secondary, New Amsterdam Secondary, Berbice High School, Vryman’s Erven Secondary, New Amsterdam Technical Institute, Berbice Educational Institute and Canje Secondary.
Foster wished the student the best in organising the event, and said she was just one of the dozens of students that the RHTY&SC, M.S., and its cricket teams have assisted in 2017, so that they can be successful at their upcoming CAPE and CSEC exams. Stressing that the Club strongly believes in assisting youths to fulfil their full potential in education and sports, the long-serving Secretary/CEO committed to assisting every student who walks into the Club’s Office.

He expressed disappointment that other major cricket clubs and sporting organisations have not followed in the footsteps of the RHTY&SC, and urged them to do so, as it is very important for our youths to “Say NO to Drugs, Crime, Alcohol and Yes to Life, Education and Sports”.
The cricket teams also assisted the Kendall Union Cricket Club of No.19 Village with five trophies towards their first-ever awards ceremony, while the All-Rounder Sports Club of Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara received three trophies, medals and equipment to assist them to promote the game. Over the last two months, a total of eleven cricket clubs has received donations of cricket gear and equipment from the Club’s cricket teams. Those clubs include Tamarind Root and Fyrish Cricket clubs, while students of the Manchester High School also received assistance to successfully complete the practical aspect of their Physical Education programme.
RHTY&SC has also assisted a total of 18 individuals, religious and sporting organisations with trophies and other items. Among those are the Flying Ace Cycling Club
