RHTY&SC salutes several members on selection to national, West Indies duties
…hails investments in youth development over the years
Management of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) has noted, with pride, the selection of several of its players to national junior teams, the Guyana Amazon Warriors team, and the West Indies ‘A’ team.
One club member has also been selected to participate in the CWI Emerging Players Academy.
Club Secretary Hilbert Foster has declared that the club is delighted that the hard work, dedication and discipline of many of its players continue to bear fruit.
Over the last 30 years, the RHTY&SC has produced more than 120 players who have played for either Berbice, Guyana, or the West Indies at different levels, and in 2022, the club has produced seven new national and Berbice players.
The club would like to salute these named players who have gained selection at the national level. Under-15: Sohail Mohamed and Razam Koobir. Under-19: Jonathan Rampersaud, Mahendra Gopilall and Jermey Sandia.
The club would like to salute Kevin Sinclair on his selection to the West Indies ‘A’ team to play against Bangladesh, and Junior Sinclair on being drafted to the Guyana Amazon Warriors 20/20 team to play in the 2022 CPL.
Moreover, the club notes with pride that Kevlon Anderson is currently a member of the CWI Emerging Players Academy.
Foster, who is also President of the Berbice Cricket Board, has noted that the club’s continued production of national players is the result of massive investment in its youth section over the years, and is a result of a special emphasis on getting them to understand their roles as sports ambassadors of Guyana’s leading youth and sports club.
He notes that the cricket development programme of the club is a yearlong effort, and the younger players are mentored on a regular basis by senior players and management. The Club Secretary/CEO has noted with pride that a total of 19 RHTY&SC members have gained selection at the regional level for Guyana or the West Indies – six national senior females, four national under-19 females, two national under-15 males, three on the under-19 team, two on the national senior team, and one each for CPL and the Emerging Players Academy.
Among the other players are Shemaine Campbelle, Sheneta Grimmond, Shakiba Gajnabi, Clinton Pestano, Erva Giddings and Plaffina Millington. The club is confident that, in the future, it would continue to produce even more national players, due to the recent record-breaking Bakewell/Busta Cricket Academy and the soon-to-be- launched Kiddies Cricket Academy for kids between the ages of eight and 12 years.
RHTY&SC Cricket Manager Ravindranauth Kissoonlall has committed the club to investing heavily in the development of every member, and to providing all the necessary equipment needed.
The club would like to encourage the national selectees to stay focused, disciplined and committed as they prepare for national duties.
Management of the club would also like to acknowledge the role played by the official sponsors of the RHTY&SC cricket teams in development of the players. The official sponsors are Poonai Pharmacy, Farfan and Mendes Ltd, Bakewell, Pepsi, Metro Office Supplies, Vitality Inc, and Namilco.
The RHTY&SC also extends best wishes to the Guyana under-15 and under-19 teams, the Amazon Warriors, and the West Indies ‘A’ teams.
