Rice farmer stabbed by drunken relative

A 64-year-old rice farmer is now hospitalised after he was reportedly stabbed by a 40-year-old carpenter at Cotton Field, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), in the wee hours of Saturday.
Police stated that the victim and the suspect are relatives and the suspect would regularly visit the victim’s residence.
On the day in question, the suspect went to the victim’s house under the influence of alcohol and behaved in a disorderly manner.
At the time, he was armed with a knife and as such, he dealt the victim three stabs – two to his chest and one to his left arm.
The victim was then taken to the Suddie Public Hospital by other relatives where he was seen and examined by a doctor who treated and admitted him a patient. His condition is regarded as stable.
The suspect was arrested and placed into custody pending further investigations.
Only on Wednesday last a 40-year-old woman walked into the Sparendaam Police Station with a knife in her hand, confessing that she had just stabbed her partner.
The woman told investigators that she was imbibing with some friends at a location on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) when her reputed husband showed up and started to physically assault her. In retaliation, she reportedly stabbed him twice.
The man is currently hospitalised while the woman has been taken into custody.
