Riders ready to battle on Sunday

Stag Beer Grass track finals…

The days are swiftly approaching for Sunday’s Stag Beer Grass Track finals at the Ogle Community Centre, East Coast Demerara and organiser Sheik Yassan says that the riders are ready to do battle and trill the fans.

The riders met on Thursday to discuss the final logistics of the races where he said that they all seemed confident of having an excellent showing.

More so, Yassen, who is also the Chairman of the Guyana Grass track Hall of Fame Committee, explained that the likes of Stanley Ming, Kevin Jeffrey, Avery Gomes, Keith Ramnarine, Mike Correia and Jerry ” Max” Govia will be honoured.

Currently Ravin Rajkumar leads the points standings with 65 points while defending champion Andy Wong is in second place on 60 points while Raj Rajkaran is tied in third place on 30 points with young Steven De Nobrega.

The event which was a huge crowd attraction in February at the same venue has ten races carded for the day across three categories (Professional, Novices and Chappy).

The professional riders will have five races at 12 laps while the Novices will have 10 laps and the Chappy will race five laps.

However, the organiser revealed that the feature race of the day will be the five-lap veterans’ race which will feature some of the stalwarts of grass track racing in Guyana.

In addition to Stag Beer as title sponsor, Regal Sports and BM Soat Auto Sales are also in support of the event.
