Guyanese forward Neron Barrow has taken a major step in his professional football career after signing a two-year contract with Jamaican Premier League outfit Waterhouse FC.
The 21-year-old forward touched down in Jamaica on Friday, January 9, 2025, formally ending his tenure with Guyana Police Force FC and concluding a standout period in the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Elite League, where he emerged as one of the tournament’s most dangerous attacking threats.
Speaking shortly after landing in Jamaica, Barrow expressed confidence and determination as he prepares for life in a more competitive professional environment.
“I’m looking to achieve it though, meaning I’m looking for professional culture, so I’m here to achieve that,” Barrow said. “My mom influenced me a lot. All she ever said to me was, ‘My son, you can do it. Just believe in yourself, and everything will happen the way you want it to happen.’”
Barrow believes his move to Waterhouse FC will be mutually beneficial, both for his personal development and the club’s ambitions in the Jamaican Premier League.
“I would say it will be a great impact for the team and for me, to show them that I’m here to do it,” he added. “I’m here to work, I’m here to score, to put them in a better position in the league.”
Renowned for his pace, strength and eye for goal, Barrow has built a reputation as a consistent finisher, attributes he is confident will translate well to Jamaican football.
“I’m very, very confident that I will bring my scoring ability and my scoring power over here,” he said.
Waterhouse FC, one of Jamaica’s most storied clubs, will be hoping Barrow’s attacking prowess can bolster their push up the league table. For the young Guyanese forward, the move represents not only a new challenge, but a clear statement of intent as he seeks to elevate his career on a larger regional stage.
Barrow’s transition from the GFF Elite League to the Jamaican Premier League marks another positive sign for Guyanese football, highlighting the growing pathway for local talent to compete professionally across the Caribbean.
