Rising Stars lifts South Essequibo T20 trophy

Rising Stars defeated New Opportunity Corp (NOC) by 29 runs in the final of the South Essequibo T20 competition played recently at Pomona Sports Club ground, Essequibo Coast, Region Two.
Rising Stars took first strike and rattled up a sufficient 141-8 from the allotment of 20-overs while NOC, in reply, struggled to 112-9 at the expiration of the 20-overs.

Man-of-the-match Kamal Lackhan hit a top-score of 42 for the winners laced with four fours and a six while Sachin Persaud made 37 also with four boundaries.
Fast-bowler Miguel Jones captured four wickets for 26 runs from three overs while off-spinner Akeeme Adams supported with three for 9 from his maximum four overs.
When the visitors appeared at the crease, Haresho Paul and Orin Heyliger scored 35 and 26 respectively. Ravindra Narine grabbed three wickets for 19 runs from his four off-spin overs and Anil Lackhan took two for 21 from four overs.
In the third-place play-off match, Hibernia beat Jaguars to take home that trophy.
The South Essequibo Cricket Committee awarded trophies to the players who were adjudged man-of the-match in all the preliminary round-robin stage and semi-final games at the presentation.
