Rising Stars remain dominant

GFF/NAMILCO U-17 League, Bartica leg…

Two goals each from Ian Gomes Jr and Joshua Jones, and one each from Regan Kippins and Kareem Hughes, launched Rising Stars FC to 19 points – which proved too much for Agatash United FC to surmount with their lone goal, which came off the boot of Ashton Simmons as the GFF-NAMILCO Under-17 League continued on Saturday at the Bartica Secondary School Ground.

Ian Gomes Jr, Joshua Jones, Regan Kippins and Kareem Hughes were the main goal-scorers for Rising Stars

Rising Stars continue their rampage in the series, winning six of the seven matches they played; drawing only one, for the record.
Newcomers Agatash United having a place at the bottom of the table can be considered an injustice for the many individual talents landscaping that young team. Outstanding among these are goalkeeper Shalimar Crighton and forward Ashton Simmons.
The outcome of the Agatash game against the Rising Stars saw the dominant Rising Stars winning by a margin of six goals to the Agatash lone goal. The first half of the game saw the Rising Stars capitalising on weaknesses of the Agatash side by scoring multiple goals to leave Agatash confused as the Rising Stars plundered their goal.
With a chance to reclaim participation in the match in the second half of play, Agatash soon found that no amount of substitution could stop the rampage, and they had to settle for the face-saving lone consolation goal.
The NAMILCO Under-17 tournament, having a format similar to that of the Frank Watson Under-15 tournament, will first be played at the Regional Member Association (RMAs) level, before there is a grand playoff with the nine winners to crown a national champion.
The league is part of the Youth Development Programme of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) through its Regional Member Associations, and is being held in association with the National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO).
The clubs that are competing in this tournament are Beacons, Lazio, Rising Stars, Potaro Strikers, Mil Ballers, Wolves United, Rivers View, and Agatash United.
Action in the league will continue during the course of the week at the same venue.
