Robbery accused released on $150,000 bail

Having been remanded by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on charges of armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, 30-year-old Charles Stoby of Hadfield Street, Georgetown was released on bail last week when he appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly.
Stoby had made his first court appearance on November 9, 2018 before the Chief Magistrate, slapped with charges which stated that on October 22, 2018 at Gordon Street, Kitty, while being armed with a gun, he robbed Kester Roberts of jewellery among other items valued at $536,000.
He was also charged for possession of an illegal firearm with matching ammunition.
After being incarcerated for over a month, Stoby was given his pre-trail liberty when he posted bail of $150,000 on each charge. A condition of his bail is that he is required to report to the Brickdam Police Station weekly.
The defendant is expected to reappear in court on January 11, 2019.
