Robbery charge lands butcher before court

Thirty-eight-year-old Dave Benjamin was on Monday taken before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he stood before Magistrate Fabayo Azore to answer to a charge of robbery.
Benjamin, who plies his trade as a butcher in Bourda Market, Georgetown, denied that he robbed Elsa Phillips.
The charge stated that on October 16, 2018, the D’Urban Backlands, Georgetown resident stole a gold and diamond necklace valued at $500,000 from Phillips while she was in the vicinity of King Street, Georgetown.
The father of two, who was represented by Attorney-at-Law Paul Fung-A-Fat, was released on $50,000 bail. The case will continue on January 21, 2019.
