The second edition of the “Rockstone Fish Extravaganza” is billed for Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22, 2023.
Dubbed “Rockstone Fish Extravaganza 2.0”, the event is organised by the Rockstone Village Council, and lots of fun and excitement are anticipated. Monetary prizes have been doubled this year, with $100,000 being offered to the winners of the biggest catch and a similar prize being offered to the person(s) catching the biggest fish.
The two-day affair is planned to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience. On the first day, coastlanders would have a chance to camp out in the open air and enjoy several planned activities, including the bonfire, football and volleyball competitions, and a rich cultural presentation.
The highlight of the event, the fish-catching competition, would be held on Sunday, and be followed by a stage show featuring one of Trinidad’s most exciting new entertainers, Yung Bredda, as well as Pimpin and Hotty.
There would also be other exciting activities in which the entire family could participate, including a cooking showdown, bird watching, and fish cleaning competition.
Those who wish to participate in the “Rockstone Fish Extravaganza 2.0” would have to pay a fee to so do, and a maximum of three persons would be allowed in one boat. The fishing expedition starts at 5:30h on Sunday, and all boats are expected to return by 14:00h for judging and presentation.
There will be stewards on each boat to avoid any conflict that may arise with respect to the respective catch. Those travelling up to Rockstone on Sunday are advised that a small fee would be collected at the checkpoint. The day is expected to be fun-filled, with lots of excitement.
Meanwhile, children 12 years and above will pay $1000 as entrance fee, while adults will pay $2500, and vehicle entrance would be $3500.
