Fifty-seven-year-old businessman Imran Hamid and his wife Saudia Hamid, 52, were on Monday evening injured after a motor car collided with their motorcycle at Rose Hall Public Road, Berbice.
Guyana Times understands that the couple was on motorcycle CK 2456 proceeding along the Rose Hall Town Public Road while a motor car bearing registration PMM 5277 made a sudden turn and ended up in the path of the motorcycle.
As a result, the motor car collided with the Hamids, causing them to fall onto the roadway where they sustained injuries about their bodies. Following the accident, the driver of the car fled the scene.
They were then picked up and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where both the businessman and his wife received medical attention. The businessman was reportedly treated and sent away while his wife, who sustained a fractured right foot, was transferred to the Woodlands Hospital in Georgetown. Her condition is regarded as stable.
Meanwhile, Police stated that checks were made to locate the driver of the motor car but they were unsuccessful. An investigation is currently underway.
