Rose Hall Tigers, Young Warriors register wins

BCB 2nd Division 40-over tourney

Action in the ongoing Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) Second Division 40-Over competition continued this week with Rose Hall Tigers, #73 Young Warriors and Skeldon Titans securing wins.
The newly-formed Tigers consisting of mainly Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club players, elected to bat first, racking up 219 with Loydel lewis leading the charge with 70 and Khemraj Mahadeo supporting with 64.
Bowling for the Jai Hind Team, P Badeo stood out with 4 wickets as their team was rolled over for 141 in 25.3 overs with knocks from K. Sumair (38), A. Nandoo (23) and A. Singh (17). Bowling for Rose Hall Tigers, T. Jagdeo took 5-19 runs while J. Jervis grabbed 2-37, handing their team a 78-run win.
In the Upper Corentyne area, # 73 Young Warriors defeated Guns & Roses by 77 runs at the # 73 Ground. Batting first, # 73 Young Warriors scored 221 with Lakeram Latchman cracking 107 and Gobin Roopram chipping in with 40.
Bowling for Guns and Roses was led by Devindra Somar’s 6-43 with Talesh Baichan 1-36 and R, Ramnauth 1-38 gaining breakthroughs. During the chase, Omesh Mathura led with 43 but H Jagdeo’s 5-26 combined with Azad Mohammed’s 4-20 were instrumental in Guns & Roses folding for 144.
Skeldon Titans then defeated the # 70 MYO by 75 runs after batting first and racking up a daunting 295 compliments of Amzan Appalsammy’s magical 111 which was supported by Jermaine Reid’s 58.
#70 MYO could only then muster 220 despite Salim Khan top-scoring with 59 ad Errol Byass ripped through the order with 4 for 43, F Bacchus 2-45 and Gajendra Nauth 2-4.
The Competition continues at venues across the county.
