Rose Hall Town Pepsi Under-19 whip Paradise by 141 runs

The Rose Hall Town Pepsi Under-19 team defeated the Paradise Cricket Club Under-19 team by 141 runs in a specially arranged cricket match at the Paradise Cricket Ground, West Coast Berbice last Sunday. The Rose Hall Town Pepsi Under-19 team was invited by the home team as part of their efforts to promote cricket in the Village which was known for its football prowess.

After the visitors won the toss and batted, they got to 199 all out off their allotment of 30 overs after the match was reduced due to excess preparation moisture on the pitch.
National youth players Kevin Sinclair and Junior Sinclair torn into the Paradise bowling attack from the start and put on 50 for the first wicket in just four overs before Kevin Sinclair was bowled by Windell Fordyce for 38 (2×6, 4×4). Junior Sinclair batted superbly for a well played 77 from 48 balls (10×4, 3×6) and received support from Under-15 players Jonathan Rampersaud 26 and Mahendra Gopilall 15. There were two wickets a-piece for Fordyce (2-31), Sudesh David (2-27), Quincy Butler (2-27), Ernest Mc Lean (2-24) and Lakeram Ramkissoon (2-17).
Set a target of 200 runs for an upset victory, Paradise was immediately set back when Ramkissoon (00) and Fordyce (02) were sent back by Kevlon Anderson leaving them at 6 for 2 in the 3rd Over. Only David with 12 reached double figures as Paradise was skittled for 58 off 16 overs. Extras contributed a healthy 22 while off spinner Kevin Sinclair claimed 6 wickets for 08 runs from 4-Overs and received support from Anderson 2 for 14 and Keith Simpson 2 for 13.
At the end of the match, Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster expressed gratitude to the Paradise Cricket Club for the invitation and stated that they would be willing to assist as much as possible once the young cricketers are committed, discipline and prepared to work hard.
The Pepsi Under-19 Team handed a collection of items including a complete set of cricket stumps, trophy, cricket medals, Say Not to Drugs Posters, Youth Information Booklets while each member of the Paradise Team received educational materials.
