Rose Hall Town, Young Warriors to clash for top honours

BCB/RHTY&SC Busta Champion of Champions…

– Cumberland Ground to host finale

The small but colourful Cumberland Ground on Saturday will come alive when the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) hosts its 23rd final in a record-breaking calendar year. Star-studded Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets and the comeback kings, Young Warriors Cricket Club are expected to clash for the right to be called champion of the 2018 edition of the BCB/RHTY&SC Busta Champion of Champions Tournament.
It will be the first BCB final to be played at the Cumberland Ground, East Canje, since former BCB President Anil Beharry spearheaded the rebirth of the once-dormant Young Warriors Cricket Club. It is the second final for Young Warriors

Clinton Pestano

since their return, having lost the Pepsi 50-Overs First-Division title to Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets by 202 runs in November. The Club will start as underdogs to the dominant Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets team and will aim to capitalise on home advantage.
Young Warriors’ strength is playing as a collective unit under the inspirational leadership of Seon Hetmyer, the older brother of West Indies Test player Shimron Hetmyer. He will receive support in the batting line-up from national Under-19 player Alex Algoo, Vishal Mohabir, Trevlon Stanislaus, Ishwar Singh, Ricardo Ramdihal, Linden Austin, and Mortimer Fraser. In-form pacers Devendra Ramoutar and Suresh Dhanai will lead the bowling attack with support from Hetmyer, a medium pacer, and spinners Stanislaus, Singh, Austin, and Ricardo Ramdihal.
RHT Gizmos & Gadgets have dominated the 2018 First Division and would be looking for their fifth successive title. Along the way under the leadership of former Guyana Under-19 Captain Shawn Pereira, they have lost only one match, a one-wicket defeat against Albion Community Centre. National player Clinton Pestano

Alex Algoo

would lead a strong batting line-up which includes Kevin Sinclair; Kevlon Anderson; Jason Sinclair; Junior Sinclair; Jonathan Rampersaud; Vidal Crandon; Eon Hooper and the Captain, Shawn Pereira.
The RHT Gizmos & Gadgets batsmen especially Anderson, Kevin Sinclair and Junior Sinclair have been in good form, and the Young Warriors Cricket Club bowling attack will have to be in good tune to stop them. Their bowling will be led by pacers Pestano and former national Under-19 player Sylus Tyndall. They will be supported by off-spinners Hooper, Junior and Kevin Sinclair, Jonathan Rampersaud, left-arm spinner Keith Simpson and in-form leg-spinner Pereira.
The winning team will take home $100,000 and the Busta Trophy while the runner-up will pocket $50,000 and a trophy. BCB President Hilbert Foster and representatives of the Guyana Beverage Company will lead the presentation ceremony after the match. The Busta Cup would be the fifth First-Division tournament to be successfully completed in 2018 by the vibrant BCB, with the Ivan Madray 100 Balls Final scheduled to be completed on Sunday.
