Veteran jockey Colin Ross sits on top of the mountain after the fifth race this season.
After 35 starts in Guyana’s horse racing, Ross recorded 10 wins. He also has four second places and four third spots.
Last season’s jockey of the year, Yovin Kissoonchand, is in second with seven first places. He also has five second spots and four third-place finishes in 31 races this season.

Ronaldeo Appadu has six first-place finishes and eight second spots in his 29 races this season.
Other jockeys in the top ten on the standings are Quinton Kellman, Bharrat Ramnarain, Dillon Khelawan, Arvin Dhanraj, Deleon Anderson, Drepaul Yhap, Michael Semple, and Ronaldo Grey.
All jockeys will have their eyes set for the Guyana Cup 2026, which is set for August 23 at Rising Sun Turf Club, West Coast Berbice.
Before the main event, there will be a race on August 2, the Emancipation Cup, set for Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club.
Ross will be the favourite to reclaim his jockey crown for the 2026 season. He won his first Guyana Cup in 2008 with Jumbo Jet’s horse, Sequin.
