Following pleas from Geeta Boodhoo for assistance for herself and children, the Rotary Club partnered with FFTP and answered that calls.

The mother of five, who was chopped, while her nine-year-old daughter Ashley Boodhoo, her grandmother, Bibi Zalima Khan, and a man, Floyd Drakes were all hacked to death, called for assistance after she was told by the Social Protection Ministry that they can only provide for two of her children.

The mother was left disabled following the incident and as such cannot perform her motherly duties. Her plea met the ears of the two organisations, who sought to lend a helping hand.

President of the Rotary Club Anand Harrilall said that as an organisation, they are obligated to help those who are in need.

The woman thanked the organisations for the supplies, noting that she is grateful, knowing that her children would now be able to attend school.

Among the stuff that was donated were a mattress, a table, and school supplies including books, bags, uniforms, footwear, etc.

The quietude of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) was interrupted on the morning of December 18, 2014, when Joshua Franklin broke into the home of his reputed wife after seeing her in a compromising position with Drakes.

He took up a cutlass and chopped the woman who managed to escape, then turned on the man, hacking him to death and then Khan and little Ashley.

The other children after seeing what was taking place retreated to a clump of bush where they hid.

He then went into hiding but was caught some days later in the interior.

He is currently serving time in prison.
