Row over stolen phone ends in stabbing

A 29-year-old man from Seven Miles Madhia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), is now hospitalised after he was stabbed several times during an argument over a stolen phone.
Injured is Shad Aynbe who was stabbed about his body by a miner from Rose Hall, Corentyne, Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), on Friday.
Reports are that the incident occurred at about 17:20h in the vicinity of School Street, Madhia. Police said that Aynbe allegedly sold his cellphone for $5000 to the suspect.
In the midst of the transaction, it was reported that the suspect began accusing Aynbe of selling him a stolen phone. This led to a heated argument, and later a scuffle.
The suspect picked up a glass bottle, broke it and stabbed the victim several times to his body while Aynbe gabbed a piece of wood and hit the suspect to his head.
The matter was subsequently reported to the Police and both the suspect and victim were escorted to seek medical attention at Madhia District hospital.
The victim was admitted a patient at the hospital. Investigations are ongoing.
Only two days ago, a 25-year-old labourer was stabbed multiple times about his body with a broken bottle during a row at the Kumaka Waterfront, Mabaruma, North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini).
Eon Bovell, the victim, was at a public place imbibing when the suspect approached him and an argument ensued. The suspect then broke a Guinness bottle and dealt Bovell several stabs about his body before making good his escape.
The labourer was rushed to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor on duty, treated, and later sent away. (G9)
