Running Braves’ Team takes Olympic Day 10k Road Race
The Running Braves Athletics Club won overall at the “Olympic Day” 10k Team run, while GDF and Police Sports Clubs came in second and third respectively.
Although Cleveland Forde finished first in a time of 34m, 44s, his team, GDF, placed second — behind the Running Braves, who had an average time of 40m, 3s.
The victorious Running Braves team was represented by Claudrice McKoy, Maria Urquhart, Cleveland Thomas, Devaun Barrington, Matthew McKenzie and Winston Missigher.
The GDF team comprised Cleveland Forde, Ashanti Scott, Leana Charles, Marlon Nicholson, Jamal Chisholm and Tishaun Bentick.
The event was hosted by the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), in collaboration with the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG). Prizes were awarded for the team event.
The teams had to be comprised of four male and two female runners.
This race started from YMCA on Thomas Lands, proceeded north on Camp Street to Carifesta Avenue, east on Carifesta Avenue and the Rupert Craig Highway to Liliendaal, turned back west to Vlissengen Road, proceeded south on Vlissengen Road to Thomas Lands, and back to the YMCA for the finish.
