Two brothers of the Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Magistrate Judy Latchman, charged separately for possession of narcotics.
The duo – Nelson Gordon, 19 and Orinduik Gordon, 23, pleaded not guilty to the charges which stated that on July 6, 2016, Orinduik Gordon had in his possession 146 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking and another six grams of the illicit drug in his possession.
His younger brother, Nelson, also had in his possession six grams of cannabis.
Nelson first pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics, but after Magistrate Latchman cautioned him that he could spend three to five years in prison once guilty of the offence, he changed his plea to not guilty.
The unrepresented brothers were remanded to prison until July 11, 2016.
