Rupununi man arrested after 5grams of ganja found in home
A 26-year-old man was on Tuesday taken into custody after 5 grams of cannabis were found in his home at Tabatinga, Central Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) during a Police operation.
The ganja that was found by Police
The Police have said that on the day in question, at about 23:30h, ranks were on mobile patrol when they observed a group of persons gathered in front of a house. Having seen the gathering, the ranks request a search to be done on the house, and a male who identified himself as the owner of the house agreed for the search to be done in his presence.
During the search, the Police found on a television stand in the living room a wrapped transparent plastic bag containing several small Ziplock bags each with a quantity of ganja.
The home owner was told of the offence and cautioned, during which he claimed ownership of the cannabis.
He was arrested and taken to the Lethem Police Station, where the ganja was weighed in his presence and amounted to five grams.
