Rush Saints, Paiwomak Warriors, Kanuku Harpies Advance To Semifinals

The preliminary rounds and knockout stages of the Rupununi Football Association (RFA) Champions League has been completed, and the semifinals have commenced.

Paiwomak Warriors FC have qualified for the semi-finals

Guyana Rush Saints male squad and Paiwomak Warriors female team have both qualified for the semifinals. In the first matchup of the male quarterfinals, the inform Rush Saints booked their spot in the semis as the edged Strikers Fc at Saints Sports Club. The encounter saw both teams attempting to break each other’s defenses, but it was the Saints that emerged victors as they were able to keep their opponents at bay to take the win 2-0 as Romario Jose was able to find the back of the net on both occasions. While in the other semifinal fixture Paiwomak Warriors thumped Gladiators Football Club 3-2 at the Annai Ground as they advanced 5-3 on aggregate, thus knocking out the defending female champions. In the final male semifinal Kanuku Harpies battled the inform Jaguars FC and lost 1 – 2 at the Katoka Ground. However, as luck would have its way the Harpies still managed to qualify for the semis as the advanced 5 – 4 on aggregate.
The female teams competing in this tournament are Sun Parakeets, Guyana Rush Saints, Strikers FC, Titans United, Kanuku Harpies, Flash FC, Paiwomak Warriors and Gladiators FC (Defending Champions); while the male competing teams are Sun Parakeets, Paiwomak Warriors, Titans United, Kanuku Harpies, Jaguars FC, Guyana Rush Saints, Strikers FC and Tabatinga FC (Defending Champions).
The Rupununi Football Association Leagues kicked off in February last with 24 clubs battling for top honours.
